  • Hello yh,

which additional information did you get when trying to start the console? Is this the local console on the management server and is the service running?

  • Hi,

If the Sophos Management Service will not start either, I suspect that under:

    HKLM\Software\Sophos\EE\Management Tools\DatabaseUser\

    or

    HKLM\Software\wow6432node\Sophos\EE\ Management Tools\DatabaseUser\

on the management server machine, the account the management service is using to access the database is this account?

  • Hello Jak

Yes, Sophos managment service and SQL Server Agent (SOPHOS) are not startup. I clear data for databaseuserDomain, DatabaseUserName and DatabaseUserPassword in HKLM\Software\Sophos\EE\Management Tools\DatabaseUser\.

After restart, still could not startup service.

Note: we just changed administrator password. after changing, anywhere in sophos need be modified accordingly.

  • Hi,

I assume that the Sophos database is on the same machine as the management service if you have deleted the registry values I mention? If the database is on a different machine to the management service you will need to specifiy an account.

So, as the management service will not start, when you attempt to start it, what is written to the Windows Application event log by the management service.  Can you paste that error?

  • Hello, JAK

Sophos database is on the same machine as the management service even i restore registry. console could not startup also.

When  startup SQL Server Agent (SOPHOS) show error "The sql server agent (sophos) service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the performance logs and alerts server"

When startup Sophos Management Service show error " Could not start the sophos Management Service on local computer. Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error.

Want to know when domain administrator password changed, whatever in sophos site need be modified password accordingly.

    Thanks & B.Regards,

  • Hello yh,

there should be a few lines before that like:

    Access is denied.

    ----- [outer exception] -----
       -- error: 0x80070005
       -- facility: Win32

     What do you get?
