GA vs. softrelease

Hi
I've notices that UTM 9.000 is now released as a soft release. What are the main differences between a soft release and the final GA release? Is the soft release considered beta quality or is it suitable for production environments?

  • I would not use a soft-release version in production --- there will more than likely be bug fixes, etc. applied to the GA build that are not present in the soft-release.

  • Consider it a late or final beta.

  • A Soft-Release is a final release with full support. Since v9, you'll even get a proper Up2Date from Soft-Release to GA if there were any necessary fixes. There is no reason to hold back until GA except waiting and see how things are going, especially with v9 and installing by ISO as there will be no Up2Date from v8 at GA, yet.
  • I don't feel like loosing all of the logs at all of my clients...i'll wait for the v8-v9 upgrade path..[:)]
