Safeguard Enterprise Client - Instalation Error

Hi guys, another problem, I was trying to install the SGN Client in a notebook and I received the error: Error 5014. Installation of Base Encryption components has failed! (SGN#1403) Than the installation ends. This is a notebook with my company's platform and I've tried to remove anti-virus and any other software that could protect the system registry. Is there a way to activate a log file that could output the installation process and than i could see which registry key may be incompatible with the SGN client? Thank you in advance, Roberto Bruno

  • Hi Roberto,

an installer log file can be created when installing manually > the comman for this would be msiexec /i [MSI Package] /L*vx [Patch to log file like c:\logile.txt]

Besides this please provide some info what kind of hardware you are using.

    Roberto,

Can you PM me the log file created by MSIEXEC? Daniel gave you a command you can run to get the log file generated during the install.  The reason I ask you to PM the log is so sensitive information isn't posted on the forum.

After I look at the log, I can post on the forum the error message found in the log file and resolution for all to read.

  • hi guy, i have the same problem like roberto in my company.
I was trying to install the SGN Client in a notebook and I received the error:
Error 5014. Installation of Base Encryption components has failed! (SGN#1412) Than the installation ends.

The hardware is an new Lenovo T500, my problem is this notebook was an special order.

So i have no identically device, for other software tests.
But the Device Enryption is still running on all other standard notebooks in our company e.g Lenovo W500, R500, X301, T61(p) and T60.
I have installed on this Lenovo T500 notebook only a Windows 7 Enterprise edition with all drivers and Lenovo tools (no other software components are installed).
I also checkt the HDD status with a testtool, but the HDD health status is all right.

The other problem is i can't create a log file with "msiexec /i [MSI Package] /L*vx [d:\logfile.txt]" -> (we have two partitions and i would like to create the logfile.txt on the d:\ data partition).
Windows 7 gives me an error message, that no file can't created or the file is write-protected. But i can creat manuel a new file on the d:\ partition, i tryed this with an local admin account on this computer.

What can i do now, i'm distressed :smileysad:?

    Best Regards,
    Johannes

  • hi guys, after a number of OS re-installation i have finally resolved my problem.
In my opinion that was only a driver problem on this Lenovo T500 notebook.
I tested the installation of the OS-drivers-Lenovo tools and SGN software in several constellations.

At my last installation I didn't installed the Lenovo Intel Storage Manager (available for XP, Vista and Seven) and the Intel Turbo Memory driver (only available for Vista).
In one installation i installed the Intel Turbo Memory after an installation of the SGN client software, then the computer frezzed not epidemic (the one and only solution was a hard reset).

But Lenovo offer a package to disabling the Intel Turbo Memory (imagined for XP). Following the Intel Turbo Memory is displayed in the device manager as "Hardeware for future use".
Then i installed the SGN client software and the process finished without any problems.

I would imagine the Intel Turbo Memory driver is corrupt with the "new" Windows 7.

I hope so i could help you :smileyhappy:!

    Best Regards,
    Johannes

  • Apologies for resurrecting an old thread here, but I'm getting exactly the same error code trying to install SafeGuard on a Lenovo T61 running Windows XP.  I've followed the steps above to create the log file, and it's 22.6MB in size - yikes!  I can't see any obvious conflict, even after searching for "Lenovo" in the file, but I'm really trying to avoid uninstalling every single Lenovo program one at a time to find the offending program.  There isn't any "Lenovo Intel Storage Manager" installed, and oddly enough this is the only machine with the problem.  I've successfully installed SafeGuard on a number of Lenovo T61s running Windows XP and 7, and am really struggling to find a reason for this particular one failing.

Anyone got any other ideas for conflicting programs I can look for?  I am trying to avoid the 'uninstall everything until it works' approach, as this could potentially break other things.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • Hello,

I received an error msg like this from our South America office (I'm based in Finland). Is there  some definite article about this issues with a fix, or can someone assist me with this issues on this forum? I have a log file from the client. Here are some other information that I know at this time:

    - Installation is failing on Windows 7 laptops

    - HW is Lenovo

    - Safeguard Enterprise v 5.60.1.7

I'll be happy to provide more information upon request. Please help me troubleshoot this problem.
