Web helpdesk login problems

I've just installed Web helpdesk for the first time after upgrading to Safeguard Enterprise 5.50.8 but i'm having trouble trying to login to the web helpdesk page.  I read in the manual that its case sensitive so I made sure to copy the name I use to log into the Management Centre but it still denies me access.  My user role is a Master Security Officer.  Am i missing something obvious?

  • Did you upgrade WHD or installed anew? Every time I installed over previous version, I would get the same issue; uninstalling older version and installing on a clean system resolved it for me. Also, make sure you have at least .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed, and that the application pool that services WHD directory in IIS is set to use it.

    Good luck!

  • I've had this issuse before and seemed to solve it by tweaking the IIS worker process recycle settings to suite the hardware it was running on. Gave it some more memory but a slightly smaller max. queue size. Honestly, I think the real solution was due to SGNWHD not liking the use of muiltiple worker process threads. Once this got tuned down to 1 thread everything seemed to work fine.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the responses, sorry for the slow reply I got caught up with a few other projects so this had to take a back seat.

dimitri_limanov - This is a clean install of webhelpdesk, I had a look in the application pool for this but couldn't see where to check to see if its pointing to .net 3.5SP1? I can see In the properties of the default web site/SGNWHD it seems to be pointing to .net 2 even though 3.5 SP1 is installed, would this need changing?

Robert_McGinley - Tried your suggestions but had no luck I'm afraid

I've logged this with the helpdesk but I might try a re-install to see if this helps

  • Manage to solve this now after a few emails to and from the Sophos helpdesk.  The SGNWHD application pool in IIS was set to use a network service rather than the sgnservice.  I think this has to match whats used on the SGNSRV application pool.  Set both the same and all working fine.
