Failed to get Scanner Instance

Have an ASG 220 with Current firmware version of 7.501. Our HTTP profile includes dual a/v scanning. For the first time today, we get the error 'failed to get scanner instance'.  I saw this post in the beta forum and disabling and re-enabling the a/v did not work. I have disabled a/v scanning for now so that users can access the web, but that is a temporary workaround.

Do I need to restart the box (uptime is only 17d 20h 30m)? Any other ideas?


Sending this to support as well, but want to make any answer available to everyone.

    We have Pattern 11180 - Confirm ALL working OK

    Mine is refusing to upgrade from 1178.  

    Current pattern version:  11178 
    Your patterns are up to date. 

    I have tried to force it but still sticks.  Any cache I would need to flush?

    Running 11179 tried to force it but no update is available. Still have same problem[:(]

    I'm having the same issue as you.  My ASG reports the current pattern version as 11178 and says the patterns are up to date.  Anyone know how to fix this?  The AV scanner is still not working for me.

    I am able to surf with av on. I just enabled it and now its working. 

    If you want to force your ASG to manually update try this code
    auisys.plx --rpmargs --force 


    when you ssh in to your asg.

    disabling AV was not working for me - now after upgrade to 11179 everything seems to be working OK

    Please remember that we only update active and licensed features, so if you disabled all AV, you will need to enable at least one system's antivirus scanner before the updates will be downloaded for AV.

    No go here. Still at 11178. I have customers that seem stuck there as well. This is getting concerning when 11180 is actually out now

    That worked, thanks Jack.  I turned on the single web AV only and it did not work.  Had to do both
