When AV-scanning enabled -> download not possible

Hi all,

using ASG 7.404, I noticed a strange behaviour, wehn trying to download files. After a little while, the browser shows the error message "http.404 website not found" without starting the download.

In order to find out the reason, I tried several settings in Web Security Settings and found out, that download only fails, when antivirus scanning is enabled. When scanning is disabled, download works as expected.

Does anyone know something about how to fix this? Leaving the av-scanning disabled is not my preferred solution. [:S]

    I use a VMware Virtual machine based on ESXi with 2 GB RAM.

    Many sites are set to disconnect when interaction with the requestor is "too slow" in the provider's opinion, and that's often the case with the time required for A-V scans.  With Astaro, you can establish an Exception for the URL or entire domain so that the anti-virus is disabled for that specific provider.

    Does that solve your problem?

    thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't think that your suggestion will really solve my problem - it eleminates the symptom, but not the reason. It might be working, but do you think, it's the right way to establish exeption rules for these domains? It is not the same as disabling A-V scanning, but it's going to the same direction.
    What about the feature known from earlier ASG Versions, that the user is shown a screen while downloading in the background and doing the scan after the completed download?

    In the current version, the user is indeed shown a screen if the file is smaller than the max scan size but large enough to cause a delay of more than a few seconds - so that's a different issue.

    Like I said, I think it's a problem with the settings on the server, not an Astaro problem.  When you first install the Astaro, there are "factory" presets to except Microsoft, Windowsupdate and Adobe from A-V scanning.
