Endpoint update through UTM has completely stopped working today

Hello,

we have a rather urgent problem: starting today, all endpoints are out-of-date. We are trying to track it down, but just to start: is anyone of you also having problems, because this seems to be a service outage, and not a problem within our LAN.

    we have the same issue. None of the clients is able to retrive an update. I contacted the support, they told me, that in the night something at the servers has been changed which could affect this issues.

    They told me to open a ticket, as they didn't know any workaround. So I made a ticket and am waiting for a possible solution. But still a bit freaky, that such issues occour with such premium soft- and hardware [:)]

    As soon as i get any reply from them I'll post it here.

  • OK, in the mean time we were able to manually update all the workstations, after 2-5 attempts the update got through.
    Could also be a routing problem affecting Telecom Italia / Interbusiness customers, I see a lot of routing problems lately.
    Hopefully this won't happen again...

  • Yes, same here. In the afternoon it started working after retrying it 4-5 times.
  • I have seen this problem off and on for several months. Sophos support wants SSH admin access to all my production servers?

    The problem is with their update servers, you can take the link from the client install and it doesn't work no matter where you try to access. As soon as the client link starts working again the updates will work but only for new or reinstalled Endpoint clients.
  • Darrell, If you mean SSH access to your UTMs, then yes, they are troubleshooting something and they need to take a look.  If you mean SSH access to Sophos Enduser Protection (Sophos Enterprise Security Console) resources on Windows servers, then you need to post in the https://community.sophos.com forums.  You used the words "production servers" and thus the confusion.

    I was referring to the UTM Hardware and Software Appliances, never thought about someone confusing access by SSH to any endpoint protected machine since the Endpoint is usually Windows and does not natively have SSH installed.
  • Yes, I know this (regarding SSH) but the post was vague.

    So yes... Sophos often does need SSH access into the UTMs to diagnose some issues.
