Sophos UTM hot-Standby, 9.306 firmware applied on a 9.210-20 system

So i have Sophos SG 310 in Hot-Standy(Active-Passive), i was having an Email Protection issue with TLS in Firmware Version 9.210-20, and was informed that i could resolve it by applying 9.3 firmware.  The firmware I found was 9.306, which turns out you are ALLOWED TO UPLOAD to the system, and also to begin an UP2DATE, but it fails to apply at all.

I now have a Hot-Standby system where the Node2 is stuck now in WORKER mode with Status:UP2DATE.  I have tried rebooting, but am having no success. I am no good with the Shell Access. Does anyone know how to get that Node2 back into Normal mode, so i can restart the firmware process correctly in the order prescribed to get from 9.210-20 up to 9.306?

Thanks for anyones help here.

  • from 9.210-20 you can not apply direct 9.306.

    just apply Version by Version:
    u2d-sys-9.210020-304009.tgz.gpg
    u2d-sys-9.304009-305004.tgz.gpg
    u2d-sys-9.305004-306006.tgz.gpg

Go ahead and upload all of them in that order.
After you have uploaded all of them you might choose to install 9.306 and it will automatically install .304 and .305.
  • Thanks guys,

Was able to get it working.  After speaking to support. Removed the SLAVE node from the HA and reset to Factory Defaults.  Once it was reconfigured with just basic settings put it back in the HA group and set Up2Date to Manually check. This time it displayed the Updates available 9.210-20 - 9.304.  Up2Date worked flawless this time.
