Problems since installing 9.204-20

I just updated to 9.204-20 yesterday when I saw that the update was out. Since then, I've had a bunch of SMTP problems with all email being quarantined. Everything was working fine before, but now all inbound and outbound emails are quarantined saying either AV scanner unreachable or Malware(SCAN_ERROR).

Has some settings changed with the update that I may have overlooked?

So I noticed another thing that may or may not be an issue. Under licensing, BasicGuard is listed as not licensed. From what I can tell, the BasicGuard subscription allowed dual scanning of emails in addition to other things. I'm running a 50 IP home license FWIW.

That is Ok, BasicGuard is special subscription type and is not included in Home license.

Try to switch from dual scan to single scan, and to turn off and turn back on AV scanning.

When you say turn off AV scanning, exactly where do you mean to turn it off?

I have tried hitting the "toggle switch" under the first SMTP screen (IIRC, I can't access the UTM right now), but that seemed to make no difference. I also changed from the dual scan to single scan, but I didn't notice any changes there either.

Email Protection -> SMTP -> Antivirus

Set Antivirus to off.

Thanks vilic, for those posts. I searched but didn't come across those, as I was looking for problems specific to the 4.204-20 code. I may have skipped over the 4.203 release - I don't recall. Seems to be the same problem I'm having. I have restarted the virtual appliance (twice, I think) and the problem hasn't resolved. I'll try disabling/reenabling the AV like you mentioned this afternoon and see if that resolves the issue.

So turning off AV scanning allows emails to be sent through and received as long as it stays off. If I re-enable it, the same problem starts again.

Any ideas?

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I had the same problem and reinstalled back to the previous version before 9.204-20, and now I am afraid to apply the 9.204-20 update again since I have not seen any definite cause/resolution to the problem. I have Avira chosen as my main engine, but I have it set to dual scan. Perhaps if it is set to Sophos prior to the update, it would work?

I haven't explored it much, but last I checked re-enabling the virus protection causes problems. I'd really like to use this feature, but it was clearly broken in the latest update.

Set single-scan to Sophos. Reboot. Set single-scan to Avira. Reboot. Does the problem persist?
