Activate Essential Firewall - Where is the key?

Hello guys,

One of my customers has a problem. He bought a UTM 110/120 with a 120 FullGuard. He was trying to insert the FullGuard key in the setup. But the key was shown unknown. Instead he need a key starting with ACT-. As I know, this is the key for the essential firewall. He first has to insert this key and than the FullGuard key. But where is this key? I was suggesting it on the hardware itself. But the customer told me he can't find any key. Can someone please help me.

    Hi,

    You have to create the key using Astaro Licencing Portal.

    That's exactly the point. In the user guide is written

    "When purchasing a Sophos UTM appliance (hardware, software or virtual), you will receive an activation key (ACT-******),". 

    It sais "receive" and you write "create". I made a MyUTM Account to see how it looks. But I can't find anything like creating an acitvation key.

    Hi,

    in MyUTM portal you should have Overview, Account Management and License Management in the top and right section of the screen. 
    If you klick on License Management you are able to "Create an new license" -> Fill in the customer details -> on the next page you have to enter the ACT-*** key.

    After that you are able to download an TXT File -> this file is required to install license in the UTM.

    Hi, Marko, glad to see you posting here!

    Here in the USA, whenever I sell an Appliance, I have the licensing email sent to us instead of the customer.  I suspect that your customer got that license key and didn't realize that the email was more than a shipment notification.  If your distributor doesn't know the customer's key, you can email nsglicensing@sophos.com.

    Thank you for the replies. Meanwhile I solved the problem. The hardware and the software were not ordered at the same time. So sophos didn't generate the ACT key. And I thought the key is on the appliance since the basic firewall is coming for free with the hardware. So it was just about reporting the serial from the hardware so sophos can generate the key.
