Crashes in Hyper-V VM

I'm having the same issue, but on VMware.
The Astaro 8.302 just stops functioning, although the VM is running fine and I can enter the commandline...
I cannot find any problems in the logs.

Any ideas?

Same issue here with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS/kvm.

i have a looooooooong running support ticket going with Astaro on this very issue.

I have come across this issue before with other virtual machines (not related to Astaro). Most times the culprit is the e1000 driver. Replacing e1000 with vmxnet3 cures this for me all the time.

Well, I also noticed that when i ran "Best Practice Analyzer" for Hyper-V, it says that not all VMs are using the latest guest additions, which is encountered for the Astaro VM.

So for now, i flashed 8.303, which is finally out now, and hope the best....

What is that loooong support ticket all about? Did they find anything? I spent hours going through the logs in astaro and in windows 2008 r2 but i couldn't find anything...its just like the vm is dead and nothing is logged about it, just like the powerplug is unplugged and there is no time to write anything down.

The strange thing is, all other VMs are running without problems, and the Astaro VM also says running, but it doesn't react to anything...just like it's frozen

it's something within 8.3x.  I'm not going to go into public detail..but since for me 8.9xx has too many regressions i went back to 8.3 and hit this wall head on..so i revived the ticket..[:)]

Well...8.303 didn't make any changes, the VM just froze again while all other VMs are still running very well. Also the Best Practize Warning with the "new driver" for the astaro vm is still there. It seems that Astaro uses old Hyper-V drivers, maybe that's a cause?

Anyway, I did a snapshot this time so I can export the VM in a frozen state and if anybody wants to have a look at it to get the rrot cause of the freezing, i will provide a dl link from the export.

What kinda time frames are you seeing before it locks?

it's random..sometimes days..sometimes hours.  the vm is still working per se..you can log into the console(not via ssh) and the hyper-v says it's running but it won't process any network traffic.
