Product is useless, support is worse.

I have an entire school down as I type this because I shut their sg210 appliance down, physically moved it 4 feet away, powered it back up and reconnected all Ethernet cables.  All APs show active, with clients connected, but nobody can get out to the internet.  Support line never answers, and takes at least 12 hours to return calls.  Account rep basically told me to eff off because I'm under a basic license.  

Why would I want to spend another $1000+ for licensing for this POS when it's nothing but problem after problem?  

Literally everything seems fine on the webadmin, but we cannot get internet access.  If you haven't already bought a sophisticated appliance, save yourself some heartache, and DON'T!

    No internet access but you do have WebAdmin access, that is at least a start.

    Otherwise we really know nothing about your network or how your SG is configured.

    Does the SG have connectivity to its link partner, next hop, etc, internet?

    The cost of problems and values of  solutions can be good to have in not only when dealing with specific outages but also during design, purchasing, operation and changes.

    "Basic" license?  Sounds like you have just the business essentials license, which does NOT include official support -- this is well documented if this is the case.  If you have a license with some features (Network Protection, Web Protection, etc.) then you should be able to access Sophos Support -- from the sounds of it the former is the case.

    In any case, just moving a box from one location to another would not cause a change in configuration.  I suggest looking at your cables, ports, and possibly switches.

    Your whole "this is crap" attitude is uncalled for.  I suggest you change the title.

    My attitude is not the issue.  The product and lack of accessible support is the issue.  

    I am in agreement, physically moving the device shouldn't cause an issue.  But it did.  I've checked all connections, and all are good.  The internal network is functional.  I can ping local devices, both wired and wireless, but nothing transiting the router gets out to the internet.

    Literally, the only change was the physical movement.  This IS crap.

    You did not PAY for support!  The essentials license does not include support... that is clear in the license agreement.  The only support under that license is via this forum, which is user-to-user, Sophos Support personnel do not monitor this forum.

    That said, despite your feelings on the matter, I suggest you check the items listed... most likely you have a link issue, or possibly some other issue with the upstream connection.  Have you run tests from the UTM (under the Support menu) -- does DNS lookup work?  Does Ping work?  Traceroutes?  For DNS, set your DNS forwarder to a known good one (opendns or google)...  it's probably something very simple, most likely not a defect in the hardware or software.

    Also, FWIW, my customers that only want a UTM / SG that does basic firewall functions, we typically ALWAYS sell them at least one subscription so that they do have Sophos Support -- the Network Protection subscription (which includes Standard Support) is well under 500.00 a year, and a 3 year sub is under 1000.00 (this is retail)...so cost for support is not all that expensive, plus you get IPS, etc.

    If your vendor didn't make you aware of the differences in support packages, etc. you should certainly contact them regarding this issue.

    I am a silver partner, and have had nothing but a terrible experience with all aspects of sophisticated from their onboarding process (non existent) to the treatment over received from my account manager, to the product itself.  

    I have a trial fullguard license.  All items. EXCEPT basic guard show 15 days left.  Why basicguard would be disabled before the rest of the modules is beyond me.  I've ordered a 1yr Fullguard license.

    Have you try moving the equipment back to the original location and power up to see if it is the equipment of something else?

    basicguard is a different license than fullguard.  you have one or the other not both on the same license.

    It sounds like you need to attend the Reseller Training courses -- Basic Guard is a special subscription for a subset of features for smaller installations -- it is normal for it to show up as "expired" in a Full Guard subscription.

    Apart any licensing configuration, did you try to bypass utm and browse internet with a client directly connected to the router ?
