Astaro-Report-Manager is an new feature to do a central reporting for asl-firewalls, e.g. you have to administrate a lot of, you can central see what happens. also you can correlate you data.

If Astaro does not want to use this board for open communication between themselves and the end user, that's fine, we (the users) can just support eachother. I would be fine with this as long as they spent the time to fix the long-standing bugs and not use the paying customers as a testing ground for new features! IMHO, one thing Astaro definately should not do is just post to the board every once and awhile, leaving many unanswered questions up in the air, that's just BAD business!
And l think it bears repeating, like William said: "Astaro pelase fix the bugs and quit adding features. You are tarnishing your hard earned reputation."
That's my opinion, too! There are a lot of unsolved issues, that aren't fixed yet, but a new feature is implemented! Like the DNS reporting graph: they logged on to our ASL and found the prob, but no fix till today!
I have been having an issue with HA mode showing the slave IP address always as 0.0.0.0 . I was originally told this would be fixed in 5.018. Here we are up to 5.025, and it STILL isn't fixed....yet they impliment NEW features.
HOWEVER, as I manage 7 ASL boxen, including my own firewall at home, I have to say this is the only issue I have had that has not been resolved right away. And that is a mix of v4 and v5. And as of late, if anything my v4 has been having more problems that the 4 v5 machines.
Writing a posting is done very fast and it helps Astaro to find and fix difficult problems. Please also note reproducing and finding problems is a very difficult and time-consuming thing. To answer all the questions in this UBB by an astaro employee would need tons of time and menpower. That's not the concept of an UBB. One user answers to another. That's the concept of an UBB.
I am sure Astaro is working on open issues very hard. The ARM update is just a new feature. Fixing problems is still done independently of new features.

All new feature development needs to stop now..all resources need to be put into fixing the current feature set....having one group adding features to a code base full of problems only leads to more problems. This is the microsoft way of doing things..not a solid linux based security product.
Agreed, why add new features to something which is broken? You only complicate the issue.
Not only this but Astaro are starting to appear confused by their own products behavior on certain occasions.
ie, "No reboot required" on an up2date when one is required in most cases. There are other examples of this.
And yes, a UBB is for user to user issues. But when a thread gets 20 posts long, with people begging for a response from Astaro, a simple, "We are aware of this and will get a fix out ASAP" will do wonders to calm people down.
I think that people are starting to feel ignored by the company and that their problems are not important to the company. I know this isn't true but Astaro must ENSURE something is done about this. Otherwise Astaro would be best off getting rid of the UBB forums and handling everything through official support. (I'd hate to see that happen).
I mostly agree with what I'm reading here. Something somewhat relevant here.
Sadly, I've looked at the low cost alternatives and can't find anything that is acceptable. Gibraltar [gibraltar.at] looks promising, but doesn't seem to have much usage (or mail list traffic). Nothing else really seems to compare with Astaro.

this UBB is a great thing and this is the time to say thanks to all the other users who helped me at many times on this board.
But astaro could not think this is all wich happens here. To get a update i have to install every uptodate before - i have to if i would or not so i have to insert any new feature i could not do anything against if i want to have security udates and bugfixes.
This is a linux product so please astaro look to other linux-projects in many cases there are two lines,
a stable - there are only bugfixes and security updates.
and then there is the second line there are the new features and the testing of it.
---- This is a security product there is no room for testing new features ------.
If this product is used in a bigger enterprise the security is the higest wich is to do. So if its not stable enough some day my boss comes in and he will tell me that there is no more room for astaro in our business. that is the day from wich on no single ¤ / dollar will flow to astaro, it is not the money for the licenses wich counts in that moment its the security.
Please ASTARO dont let this day come.
Its not only to some more professional help here it is the way of doing the work with this great product.

a last thing to the marketing of astaro :
ther is no need to make a new version of Astaro ( maybe V6) before this one is stable.
i think one of the main problem is that there are to many diferent hardware configurations out there - what about the apliances? do they have the same issues? i can't understand that my system is down more times a day for about 2 minutes and others aren't.
