Astaro-Report-Manager is an new feature to do a central reporting for asl-firewalls, e.g. you have to administrate a lot of, you can central see what happens. also you can correlate you data.
don't think that this board is the official support channel of Astaro. They give away free homeuse licenses and run this board as a forum for discussions and private support. Some here seem to be Astaro business partners or commercial users, they should know where to get professional support from. You cannot expect everything for free! Of course Astaro benefits from this board since they would never reach such a wide, heavy discussing community delivering worthful input than here but where else do you get such a product for free? There are some problems O.K. teething problems with version 5 but all things considered it is a very good product offering high end features for nothing and even more you get server licenses for virus- surf- and virus protection for a chicken-feed.
chicken feed or not - that's not the topic here. of course you can say it's free and if you don't like it - don't use it BUT! i think that the "homeusers" do a lot of work and support for the astaro team, so that it should not be to much to get an answer to a lot of same type questions.

Don't know how you define work, for me it is on one hand fun to experiment with Astaro on the other hand I benefit from the sophisticated surf protection solution - In fact I do not but my children do!

As a commercial user we've spent plently of money on the products themselves. If you want even simple email support past the 3 month initial period, it will run you about $500 a year (for 50 user license). Why should we pay for them to tell us that these problems are bugs that have not been fixed for many versions, and they should be fixed sometime soon? Any person should be able to figure out that useless information even without this board. There have been problems that have existed for many versions, there is nothing paid support is going to do to help those situations! What most people want is just a little acknowledgement that the problems they have are real and they are being worked on. Not too hard of a concept to understand! [End Rant]
Being an Astaro partner I can see where it can be frustrating not knowing if you are input is falling on deaf ears. I only have a few sites, 2 on V4 and 1 on V5.017 and ours is kept very current so hopefully I know of issues before my V5 customer. If you notice I am not overly concerned about my very stable V4 customers.
I appreciate much of the input on this site and I hope Astaro does as well. When I talk to them directly they seem to know about the problem and either a temporary workaround or they let me know a fix is in progress.

the laundry list of bugs is growing larger and Astaro is messing around with adding features? It does not make sense..this is something microsoft would do..this is supposed tob e security software.
As of right now i have managed to duplicate content filtering, most vpn functions, http proxy and am working on pop3 proxy(basic)....all in free software by modifying smoothwall. I loved v4..v5 has driven me to look to build my own suite..Astaro pelase fix the bugs and quit adding features. You are tarnishing your hard earned reputation.

it's ok that there're people like you having the time and nervs to play with unstable software.
but i hope you can understand that if one has an internet connection without disconnects from the provider side that this dude becomes angry if the disconnects come from the firewall more times a day and this about more month against long odds.
