Can't activate license for home xg firewall. Initial activation led to unreachable screen, so had to select trial for 30 days

After selecting trial for 30 days, I reached into portal.  When I tried to activate inside the firewall WebUI, I got this:

  • Can you PM me this Serialnumber? I assume, this is not a home serialnumber, instead a customer serial with a trial attached. 

  • SN seems to be fine. 

    Could you rephrase the process you actually did to get to this point? 

  • I downloaded the file.  Installed, run it, and reached the webgui.  I entered the serial number that I was given, after a few clicks, it says almost there or something.  The final click left the page (webgui) unreachable.  I tried to return back to previous page, and did it once again.  Same thing happened.  I finally had to go back, and select 30 day trial.  After that, I was able to go into the webgui.  I went to the licensing area, and my license appears to be there, but it says you cannot have 2 30-day trials running.  I went into the sophos portal, and it shows another device, with another serial number, besides this.  But I don't recall having another instance.  I don't know how to delete that either.  

    Now I don't know whether it's the license issue, or if there's another instance of home trial running.  Or whether this is an evaluation copy of the commercial license.

    Actually you should not be able to start any FG+ Trial on a home license. Seems like with this process, you started a customer appliance. 

    Hence you cannot "change" / import the Home license.

     

    Home and the business appliance uses the same ISO.

    Like on your screenshot, i guess, you pressed the second option. 

    In that case, XG will start a new Trial with a new (business) SN. 

     

    I guess you have to reinstall XG :( 

  • It's ok to reinstall XG.  It takes a short while only.  Do I use the same serial number?
