secondary server as sophos but cannot update

so, is your question about the failed update from Sophos (which you set up because the client is outside the home network and thus it is expected that the Primary location fails)?

Anyway, the Primary fails with error 53 (Network path not found). As said, this is expected if the client is not on the LAN. The subsequent attempt using the Secondary (Sophos) fails with Couldn't authenticate user for resource with host server. Looks like invalid credentials - did you use your license credentials?

Yes it is off the LAN and the Primary location would fail as expected.  It is indeed the secondary location that I am wondering about, why I can't update from my secondary (Sophos) location.  I guess the issue is that I didn't use the license credentials and accidentally used my domain admin ones.   I will try again putting that in again, I assume I would just enter those credentials in the secondary server tab

looks fine. It does not download the RMSNT component, which is the expected and correct behaviour. RMS is used to communicate with the management server and, as communication is likely not possible when the client has to update from Sophos, thus updating it is not necessary. For both SAVXP and AutoUpdate it has found that the cache already contains the latest data thus the installs have been skipped.

The only reason why I was still a little confused was because on the EC it still shows the computer with an error, but the error is that the computer is not updating from the primary server...  To me it seems like its showing a false negative, because it is updating correctly from the secondary source which is Sophos.  Anyway I guess this might just be how the program works.

ah, I see. This is the expected behaviour although it requires that the client talks to the console after it has been outside (in case you route RMS communication also while it is outside) and before the next successful update from the Primary (after which the error should be automatically cleared). The rationale is that it shall alert you about potential issues with your Primary location. In case both locations fail you'll get a Could not find a source ... instead of Download of XXXX failed from ....
