Safeguard Web Help Desk Login

We are currently testing Sophos Safeguard Enterprise as a trial before purchasing.  When attempting to login to the Safeguard Web Help Desk, to enter a challenge code, the following error is received: "You do not have sufficient rights to run the CR Tool."  The user has been imported in from AD and assigned Security Office rights.  A cert has been generated for the user as well.  User has also been given full access to the Domain Root within Users & Computers.

  • That person probably doesn't have the security rights required to run it. Try promoting the person to master security officer as an experiment to see if that fixes the issue, if it does then you know what the problem is, you security officer role doesn't have the security rights you need to use that tool and do a recovery function like challenge/response.

  • Thanks, that worked!  I had checked off all the roles thinking that would be enough, but apparently needed to promote the account to Master Security Officer.

  • You should never have to promote someone to the MSO level just to use web helpdesk. That is a extremely bad security practice with this encryption product. MSO should be reserved for people that administrer your entire Safeguard Enterprise system. I highly suggest if you go with any type of sophos product. Invest some extra money to have a professional services on site engagement.

    I have the same problem. I can login to my helpdesk site only as Master Security Officer.

    Security Officers (even with all the roles active: Supervising Officer, Security Officer, Helpdesk Officer, Audit Officer, Recovery Officer) cannot login to the site - they get an error - "You do not have sufficient rights to run the CR tool"
