Keyboard is not working on POA, Lenovo L412 and SafeGaurd Easy are using

Hi All

My company purchased over 20 units of Lenovo x201i and L412. All of them installed Safeguard Easy ver.5.50.8.13. For the x201i, it works perfect. But for the L412, the keyboard became not working (mouse worked fine) on the POA screen. I need to use the virtual keyboard to key in my name and password. After got passed the POA and logged into the Windows, it works normally. Definately, it is not accepted to use the virtual keyboard everytime. So, I would like to seek help from here.

Some more details, I am using the built-in keyboard, that means not a external keyboard. Using Windows XP SP3. And I believe I tried all the hot key combination.

I have to deploy my notebooks to the end user. So please anyone here can help!~

  • Hi RD1,

thank you very much for providing your solution but please note that this is not a supported way of changing the SafeGuard Enterprise installation. Furthermore we cannot predict any side effects when changing the registry in the described way.

Please be so kind and open a new support call with the local help desk so that your solution can be verified and made publicly available via knowledge article.

    Thank you very much!

    Regards

    Dan

  • I'm having the same issue with one of our laptops running SafeGuard 5.60 - it's the same laptop mentioned here which seems to be sufferring a number of problems after (eventually) getting SafeGuard to work.  Disabling USB support via the F5 hotkey worked, but as mentioned by a previous poster, the first key pressed is ignored.

If it weren't for the fact that this user has already lost one laptop, I'd be decrypting this machine and uninstalling SafeGuard by now... :smileyindifferent:  Unfortunately it's not making me too popular with this user, so if any proper fix is found I'll be glad to hear it!

  • Hi RBGE,

thank you very much for posting.

With regards to this issue I have to tell you that there is no solution available for this issue at this point. The only possible thing that you could try is to test with the planned 5.60.1 release (I cannot provide any release date); however, there is no fix included for this particular problem but for something else that could eventually influence this issue as well.

There is no guarantee but it worthwhile giving a try.

  • Thanks Daniel - I'll give 5.60.1 a try when it's available and update this post if anything changes.

  • Hi all,

as you know this discussion has been on-going for a while now but it seems as if we are getting closer to a solution. As I was told by Development they are planning to implement a change into 5.60.1 that should positively affect this behavior and actually solve the issue.

Therefore please be so kind and test 5.60.1 (I still can't provide any release date) and see if this resolves the issue!

    Regards

  • Good day. I have just installed Sophos Encryption software for a user here at work. It's Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 15 and the keyboard doesn't want to work on the first login screen. I have read through this discussion and I'm looking for a soultion.

  • Hi EL7,

which version of SafeGuard did you install? You might want to test the newest Service Release for version 6 that we just made available yesterday.
