Blanks in web filter reporting

Hi,

I have web filtering configured, in transparent mode, and also a few profiles created that work with active directory. 

Everything works fine except reporting and statistics of both accepted and blocked requests (even though the log is being generated properly), which only seem to be generating during "random" periods of time. 

This can be seen on this daily executive report graph:



As you can see, there are some "blanks", even though web filtering was working fine during these time frames.

Disk space is good in all partitions and I haven't made any changes through SSH or anything.

Any suggestions?

    Hm. I forgot to mention that I have HA on too... I'm still on 8.202 though. I have also noticed that web filter cache keeps filling up the data partition, and I have to empty it manually (basically I don't want to let it reach 100%)

    Hello,

    answer from Astaro support regarding this issue.

    This is a known issue and there are still some reporting issues which should be solved with version 8.300.
    Please make a update of the Firewall as soon as possible and check if reporting issue still happens.
    Softrelease of version 8.300 is available from ftp.astaro.com now and the up2date version will be available in the middle of january.

    another answer from Astaro support regarding this issue in v8.300.


    I have talked to my development colleagues and what we have here is a new reporting issue with the same failure.
    It was tagged to a ID at the development team and will resolve in one of the next updates.
    For the moment i can't say when this issue with the graphs will be resolved.
    But i will inform you as soon as i get the information about the version where it will be fixed.

    Update on all this: I have observed that in a HA master-slave scenario, the only thing that seems to temporarily fix the issue is to reboot the slave. Once it has been rebooted, the reports, graphs, and dashboard statistics regarding the web filter start filling up. Yet after a few hours, it starts halting again.

    MrNoodles, you might want to search here on the problem with your web filter cache filling up.  Adding an exception for scanning some updates solves the issu.  (Sorry, that's all I remember.)

    Had to do with Firefox Updates (the cache filling up) as I recall...  search the forum for that.

    the newest answer from Astaro support regarding this issue in v8.300.

    Issue should be fixed in version v8.301.
    Update will be available in the middle or end of february.
    So i will close the case. If issue still exist when update is installed you can reopen the ticket again.

    Well, as I was told by support, I waited for the new patch... I updated to 8.301, but the problem still persists. Somehow, web filtering reports stop filling up at one point and are left like this for the rest of the day. 

    I have observed that if I restart de Syslogng service, everything starts working fine again, but only for some hours. Before that, I had the reporting database rebuilt.

    I guess this has to do with our HA Active-Passive setup, since I can relate to these problems starting once the second node was setup AND, if I restart the slave node, it also starts working for a some hours (and I can't figure out why, because the hardware and the network interfaces / connections are the same).

    I could insert a script in crontab to restart syslogng every 20 minutes (for instance), but I don't think it's a very good idea, plus, it's a lame workaround.

    Guess I'll have to go for another ticket.
