AV database problem

Received this message without turning on https scanning.

With HTTPS scanning turned on...

Why? Is my AV database corrupt?

Solution? Must I do a complete reinstall?

  • I don't know if you need to reinstall.  Apparently, turning off dual scan resolves the problem of a missing CalmAV database.  If it's the Avira database, Gert had a suggestion for an ssh command to run to list debugging information.

  • OOPs

I should have specifically stated in my first post that I installed the v7.4 upgrade prior to this happening and not assumed that one would recognize that previous versions did not have HTTPS scanning. My mistake...

So with this additional information, is an answer any more clear?

  • Same answer.  Cath has a prescription for the fix in a recent post today.

  • I had the same problem. I followed the description in the link above. I created the missing directory "/var/storage/chroot-http/var/pattern/clamav" but the command "patterndist clam" failed because the pattern file was not found in the up2date directory. However I tried to turn on "dual scan" again and it works! I looked in the created directory again and found three files now.

    Thanks for help!
  • I'm trying to use putty to access ssh.

After typing "root", hitting enter, and typing the password that I chose, I cannot access the ASG.

    2009:02:28-12:14:33 mydomain sshd[16123]: Failed password for root from 192.168.***.*** port 3750 ssh2

    What an I doing wrong.

    Thanks,
    Jim
  • Yes, root is not allowed to login from remote, you have to go the firewall directly.
  • loginuser first via ssh
