New Virus Pattern up2date

Greetings-

Ever since my machine updated to version 6.301 I have been getting emails (usaully 5 - 10 per day) saying:

A new Virus Protection Pattern Up2Date was successfully installed.
For more information please see the attached file.

Funny part is my license doesn't have Virus protection included.

Any idea why this is happening? Is this a known issue?

Apply 6.302 and it should go away.

I applied 6.302 update on Aug 22. My box continues to download the updates, although only 3 yesterday.

Any other ideas?

The original 6.302 update had a small bug in regards to anti-virus updates. Reapply with the newer version which was released on the 23rd. More information is available here: http://up2date.astaro.com/

Scott-

I tried downloading the update from the 23rd and Importing it, but I get an error stating that it has already been installed. Perhaps I should download an ISO and do a quick rebuild from dialy backup?

Any other ideas?

You don't have to reinstall the update, you can reboot the firewall which should also fix those alerts.

Well....I've rebooted and the issue still occurs.

Now this morning I noticed 6.303 which I have downloaded and applied. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

OK, clearly this didn't work....

I've already got Virus Pattern updates since the upgrade to 6.303 this morning.

Ideas?

Perhaps the Astaro guys have some input? Or would like some more info in an effort to resolve the issue?

Hi there all,
this is easy to explain.

In order to use Anti-Virus you need two subscriptions.

1) Secure Web or Secure Email Subscription
to be entiteled to use th AV and Spam functionality

2) Maintenance Subscription
which includes the Up2Date functionality.
This is needed to receive AV updates.
As soon as you have the maintenance subscriptions, you are entitled to receive updates, System as well as pattern updates.

Yes you can get Virus Pattern updates without the license to use them.
If once you get the license, you already have the latest pattern [:)]

there are two ways to disable that.

a) disable automatich pattern up2date completly
in System > Up2Date Service

b) disable all virus scanners in the proxy pages
in Proxies> HTTP, SMTP, POP3
