SSL VPN, Windows 8, accessing remote network

Windows 8
Everything works with a PPTP connection
Trying to configure an SSL VPN connection

ASG220 9.100-16
Interfaces:
Internal on eth0 10.10.5.1/16
External (WAN) on eth1 192.168.1.15/24

Masquerading rules:
Internal to External (WAN)
myusername (User Network) to External (WAN)

No NAT rules

SSL Profile:
myusername in users and groups
Internal (Network) in Local networks
Automatic firewall rules checked
Any in Interface Address
TCP/443
Virtual IP pool is VPN Pool (SSL) which 10.242.5.0/24

Using Sophos VPN client I am able to connect, assigned IP address
10.242.5.6

However, I can't see/ping anything on the 10.10.5.x network
Using the PPTP everything works correctly and I can connect, ping, ssh, SMB mount, etc.

On my Windows 8 laptop ipconfig says:
10.242.5.6
255.255.255.252
no default gateway

What am I doing wrong?

Before trying to analyze this, please try the 9.101-12 Up2Date: ftp://ftp.astaro.com/pub/UTM/v9/up2date/u2d-sys-9.100016-101012.tgz.gpg

Or, from the command line as root:
cd /var/up2date/sys
wget ftp.astaro.com/.../u2d-sys-9.100016-101012.tgz.gpg
/sbin/auisys.plx --showdesc

and install in WebAdmin.

I've installed 9.101-12 and rebooted

I can still connect, still can't see anything on the network behind the ASG220 on the 10.10.5.x network. No error messages in the SSL VPN log.

Hi ,

Windows 8 sometime do issues with the TAP adapter.
Try just to disable and enable the network connection adapter ( wireless or Ethernet ) used for this connection then tap diagnostics and let it finish.
Then try again and see if it helps you.
When the TAP windows driver fails the connection will be made sometimes but no route or default gateway will be created.
You can track the connection status with double click on the Sophos ssl icon on the tray

Looked at the Sophos SSL status and noticed that the Windows route add commands were failing.

I ran them as admin in a cmd window and everything routes fine now.

Do I need to run the Sophos client as admin?

Yes, it needs to run with admin privileges.
