Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone already managed this.
Simply I moved to the location where I have FTTP service which means that the fibre comes to my house and connects to the box inside the house. Than to that box'es LAN port BT connected BT HomeHub5.
I was expecting easy job here, WAN on Hub to LAN on termination unit, should be simple ethernet connection. Right, not so easy, as usual with BT.
Long story short, I tried all I could think of: ethernet (DHCP), PPPoE, PPPoA with/without username and so on. None works, I just get no connection, no IP address, interface down (down logically, physical connection is up).
I will try to get some answers from BT but this is like pulling blood from the stone, so wondered if someone already managed this.
I am a bit perplexed what the connection should be. In first thought NTI should be simple router/bridge with fibre interface and some LAN ports. But it does have 2 x phone sockets too, its is a bit more complex than (I am guessing some modem(s) inside to modulate analog phone signals...). So I am thinking if this still requires PPPoE connection and a modem between it and the LAN (router)?... It would be stupid but who knows. BT HomeHub5 WAN port (there is also separate ADSL port - not in use here) might be actually not what I think it is... Perhaps it is VDSL port on VDSL modem exit? But than what NTI does in this case?
At the moment I connected UTM to LAN side on the hub and it works, but that's not what I really want (double NAT to start the list...).
If anyone could share some experiences/knowledge here, I would be very grateful.
Thanks!!!
