I am setting up a UTM at home, when I give it a hostname does it need to be resolvable across the internet?

I'm only setting up for small home network without a mail server. So I take it this will not be an issue for me?

I currently have dyndns setup on my dlink router, but when I put in the UTM in I will be setting the router to bridging mode so will dyndns need to be setup on utm instead?

Probably.
The UTM does support several dynamic DNS services.
