ASG 220 factory reset and upgrade from V6

Hi,

I have an ASG220 and want to factory reset the device, log in and then upgrade it to a later version of the required software. The admin password is unknown and thus the reason for the reset!

When I go through the factory reset on the front panel I get ten beeps from the device. At this point it seems to hang and I am unable to access the device.

I tried logging a support ticket but was told I needed to upgrade as V6 is no longer supported.

Anyone got any ideas?

    Second what scorpionking says. Everything in IT eventually goes obsolete. 

    I've got a stack of PIX 500's sitting in my office that are no longer supported by Cisco. They still run just fine but are so far behind on the iOS release that it wasn't worth keeping them in service. I even still have Netware 3.x disks floating around. Still works fine on the old 486 paperweight but beyond useless nowadays.

    Oakers, if you can find something as elegant, powerful and inexpensive as the UTM, please come back here and let us know...

    (Not being facetious - just glad to let someone else do the hard work! [;)])

    Indeed, hardware becomes obsolete.

    Luckily though, you can use your own hardware and run the UTM software on that for a heck of a lot cheaper if you like the feature set Astaro offers.  This is what I do at home.

    Anything >2GB RAM should be fine all the way up to UTM9.1.

    actually no..software becomes prohibitively expensive at a certain point when compared to UTM hardware ip for ip..BUT the flexibility of being able to sue your own hardware is the key benefit..but software is NOT cheaper at the higher ip limits..
