First thing that I would try is a reboot.

I'm sorry to hear that.  If anyone without Astaro Support has any issues with 8.201, my recommendation is to obtain an 8.103 backup, reload an 8.103 ISO and reload from scratch.

If anyone reads this that doesn't have Astaro configured to email daily backups to you, then I suggest you download some backups now and configure emailing.  If you only make modifications once a week on Monday, then configure backups for once a week.  If you never make any changes anymore, then configure emailing backups for monthly.

Alreaddy tried several reboots with no go.
I was affraid it would require a restore to previous version or perhaps a softupdate to 8.202 whenever that comes.

Problem here is that this is a rev3 ASG120 located at the companys chairman of the board which I made for him a long time ago with a home version installed since he is a tech geek and has an exchange server running just for him and the wife - so enjoying the email filtering. Lucky for me he loves the simplicity of the Astaro which also makes it much easier for me to use the professional bigger walls fully licensed in the company.

I was hoping there would be some ssh command trick to make a forced install since the actual error when applying the updates is failed in the precheck.

I will give it a little more time here to see if anyone knows of such command, and if not I guess I much prepair a USB installer for him.

And by the way, email backups of the configuration is enabled. Thats one of the first things I configure :-)

You can kick off a forced install of any packages on the system with auisys.plx --rmpargs --force or you can run each one manually with the --force switch.

No go.. :-(

it fails at vineyard-plugin-2-0.74867757.g3e10dab.i686.rpm  which it says is installed. 
I cant seem to force a reinstall and when I ask with rpm if it is installed it claims the package is not installed.

Also I see this when I enable auto update.. however it is a home version :

Take a look in Management>> Licensing.  Does everything show as enabled?

yes green check marks all the way down in the license part - even tried to reapply the license with no change.

I would have just reinstalled long ago with a conf backup.. but the fact that I have to spend 5 hours in a car each way kinda makes me seek alternatives.

I see this also was an issue around version 7, but I never saw a fix except some sort of rpm to download which would be no good on the V8 I guess.

I must say that the rapid deployment and simplicity of Astaro is a nice thing to remember right now, because I practically spend days now putting out small and large fires caused by 8.200 and 8.201 ..

Tell me about it  ;P.  8.202 should be out soon and it will solve a large number of the problems, per the v8 issues list.

Have you tried targeting just that one patch?  rpm -Uhv vineyard-plugin-2-0.74867757.g3e10dab.i686 --force?

tried something like it.. but I am not all that good to the linux commands yet, so I got stuck at :

I guess I have to unpack the up2date package somehow..

Since it didn't install, it might still be on the system.  Check in /var/up2date/sys and if it exists, sys-install
