License Renewal for ASG220

Version 6 has been at end of life for quite some time now; you will need to install Version 7 (I recommend 7.510--Version 8 does not have a Version 6 backup import function) and restore your V6 backup to it... then apply your new license.  The Version 6 import does not import all of the settings, so you will have to redefine many of the the settings by hand.  See the manual located at https://support.astaro.com/support/index.php/ASG_Manual_7-506 for more details, pages 51 and 52 to be precise.

I recommend that you update to Version 8.102 as soon as possible as well, as now Version 7 is not the current production version -- Astaro will still support it until December of next year, but you probably won't see any new features, etc. on Version 7 any longer.

If you have any questions regarding the upgrade (for instance, some V6 backups will not import into V7 for some reason, sometimes Astaro Support has to handle it), contact your reseller, they should be answering these sorts of questions for you.

Bruce, don't you think he might need to limit himself to 7.3 as 7.4, 7.5 and 8.x require more than 512MB?

Marcussit, you have an upgrade key, and it only can be ADDED to an existing license online.  Your reseller likely will need to contact Astaro so that you can get your existing licensing information transferred into the MyAstaro account you opened.

Hi Both, Thanks a lot for your feedback, then I think the only way is to wait for my reseller to get my license onto MyAstaro Portal before I can do anything to it. Since we don't have the Maintenance Gold subscription, I am afraid I am stuck with my current v.6 instead of upping to v7 or v8.

Marcus, if you bought an Astaro subscription, under the new model licensing, standard support (equivalent to what used to be called Gold Maintenance under the old model) is included with ANY subscription. 

As to what Bob mentioned regarding 512MB of RAM... if you are using an older unit that has only 512MB, I recommend that you upgrade to 1GB.  Even Version 7 (especially later versions), depending on combination of features enabled, needs more than 512MB of RAM.

I suggest that you speak to your reseller regarding these items- -they should have the answers you seek.  Without knowing exactly what you bought (new model or classic model licenses, for example), or what you have, it's difficult to speculate.  They should know.
