ASG220: Does not power down

i would upgrade to the latest version when you can and see if this fixes it...it could be either a hardware OR a software problem. if upgrading the asg to the latest version doesn't fix it..keep a backup of your current version AND the 504 version and try a reinstall.  if it still won't shutdown then you have a hardware issue.

well yes this would be the best solution. But: I've copied the config of a running asg (also version 7.501) to this box. I need this for a upgrade next week --> productiv box will be replaced by the "new one" --> update on the productiv box --> when it is ok --> change back to the old box. The customer has decided to not buy a cluster, so we have to do this like that...

After this i will reinstall the new box and update to 7.504 and configured it from scratch for the new enviroment.

That's really the only way short of opening the case(which voids support).

Quick one for you guys, this is happening on the 425 as well, and if I recall correctly the 110/120 "atleast the old ones" as well as the 220.

The issue you're seeing is an old issue from way back when we were all running AT style power supplies with the hard on/off switches instead of the push button switches that send just a short electrical signal.

An Astaro engineer would have to confirm or deny it but the reason they are shutting down the OS and not the system is by design as to have the power switch working properly where the Astaro hardware will ignore the signal from the OS to power off and requires the manual switch toggle to power the system off after the OS has shut down.  This functionality does make the most sense as there's a 1/0 switch on the back of the unit and not a generic power button.

When you see "System Halted" on the screen it is safe to shut down without any problems.  Now I do agree it'd be VERY nice if say the fans lowered in RPM or there was some indication it was safe to shut down at the end of that process for those without a monitor plugged in.
