Hi, Regarding licensing

Look in 'Management >> Licensing' on the 'Active IP addresses' tab for the list of IPs seen by the Astaro. What IPs do you see there that you didn't expect?  What reason might they have for needing to go to the Astaro?

IP's like 192.168.*** are not likely i have added to any of my clients .

My DHCP gives address from 192.168.1.15 to 192.168.1.64 .

Some IP's are not assgned by me and some are not used, my question is it says its active and using but it is'nt why ?

Yes astaro gives us the internet and does filtering like snort, IDS and http proxy server we are currently using sir.

That still leaves 38 in your DHCP range. If you are using the Astaro to supply DHCP, then that's one reason for all of those units to appear in the IP log.  The same is true of DNS.

The IPs larger than *.64 Have been active in the last week.  You probably have fixed IPs assigned to some devices.  Go to 'Reporting >> Network Usage' 'Accounting', select "Top Services by Client" and look at the traffic from each of these IPs .

1. IP's are counted when they utilize most any of the resource of the Astaro.  So devices using the Astaro for DNS, DHCP, IP Gateway, etc. are each counted along with those that traverse the firewall - servers, workstations, etc.  These devices could include things like printers, WAP's, etc.  Anything with an IP address on your network that utilizes an Astaro resource.

To reduce the total IP's in use count on your network try, for example, removing the gateway address for devices that don't need it within your local subnet, such as printers.

2. Astaro licensing counts each unique IP address used over a running 7 day period.  Each time a device uses a resource on the Astaro, it's IP address is logged. If the address is not already on the licensed IP addresses list, it's added, and the IP's in use count is incremented by 1.  Each IP on the licensed list remains until 7 days after that device last accessed an Astaro resource, at which time the IP is removed from the licensed IP's list, and the in use count is reduced by 1.

Hello Together,

I am having a little problem with my Firewall. I want to Access the Management --> Licensing --> Active IP Addresses Page and get the Error:

Information: Modification of non-creatable array value attempted, subscript -12 at /PerlApp/wfe/asg/modules/asg_licensing.pm line 46. 

Wenn I click on OK nothing happens..

I am using a Astaro Security Gateway V7 with Release Version 7.502


Background Information: We're getting the Error, that our License is running out. But in Fact we do not have to many users. So I wanted to check what IP Addresses are using the Astaro, so I can change their settings and keep the 10 User License I now have in Action.

I hope someone can help me with that error Message.

Markus, the newer version of licenses have much higher limits.  You may have a conflict between your licenses and the 7.502 version.  Start by installing a new license.

Another possibility is that your browser cache is causing problems, so flushing that might resolve your issue.
