Problem installing ASL on a VIA C3 box

I tried to install ASL 5.202 on a small box but it hangs during "Hardware is beeing detected". What can i do, to get it running? I already tried 4.008 which I had on hand - same result.

System configuration as follows:
Mainboard LExSystems CV860A
CPU VIA C3 533 MHz Low Power (Eden)
Chipset VIA PLE133 (VT8601A, VT82C686B) with integrated S3 Graphics
RAM 256 MB PC133 SDRAM
HDD 40 GB Samsung 2.5"
NIC 3x Realtek 8100B

    The LEX Light box works okay at least until 5.050 or something - haven't tried with 5.200. The NICs are perhaps different from my setup, but that shouldn't be a problem. Did you try using another CD drive, that could sometimes cause a problem too?

    As you're using a similar configuration, please could you specify bios settings you changed?
    So I go fetch the 5.000 cd from work this afternoon and then I'll give it another try. Maybe I should try a different cd-rom drive first.

    OK, solved!
    It really had been the cd-rom drive, a Sony CRX160X CD-RW.

    I replaced it by a TEAC CD-C68E and the installation did no longer hang up the box during hardware detection.

    I recall facing problems with CD-RW on LEX before too. Nice it worked out [:)]
