Is a PII333Mhz Enough?

Well... I have no problem with at all using a PII-400 with 192MB... (Ok it is dual but don't think astaro uses the 2nd anyways)...

Maximum CPU used is about 25% @ 2Mbit.

So unless you need it for gigabit firewalling my guess it that its gonna work out fine.

I had ASL instaled on PII233-128MB RAM and it was running smothly. The only problem was with VPN connections, which were droping. Otherwise for normal trafic (http, smtp ...) we had no dificulties. 
FW was protecting 25 PCs, 2 mail domains with virus protection, webserver and ftp server for several domains in DMZ. 

It was working fine, but I had to change it due to VPN instability.

Running on a P Pro 200 with 96MB 

I think we've all become jaded with the current processing power of the newest processors. A P200, 128MB RAM is STILL a formidable machine for most Linux server tasks. I know some folks using 486/33s for SSH gateways. You do NOT NEED a P3-500 for simple ASL duties.
I've used a P2-266,64MB,2.5GB machine on ASL 3.216 with great success at T1 speeds using DNS proxy, SMTP proxy, and PPTP VPN (one). The only reason I switched to a P2-400 is that I'm running a Snort sensor on the firewall. Keep in mind that I switched to the 400 because of opinion, not NEED. I had not done performance testing on the 266. It might have done well. Just keep in mind, If you're only using a half dozen internal clients, you can use a P2-233/266 quite easily.
A P2-333 is more than enough machine for pretty much anything up to (at least) T1 speed.

I use a PII 400MHz with 384Mb ram and i use ASL 4.0 and i works great for me 

I've seen a post from a user using a P-133 successfully. 

I Installed ASL 4 on my p2/350 544MRam 13GB
It took about 1 h to install!
In WebAdmin I took a peep at CPU Utilization, it was:
Maximum 99%   Avarege 74%
2 hours later it crashed!
Now ASL is on my p3/500 512MRam 13GB 
CPU Utilizationis:
Maximum 16%   Avarege 5%
And p2/350 is running W2K SERVER Perfektly fine  Avarege CPU at 20%

You had something else going on to cause that sort of CPU utilization.  I have ASL 4.007 running on a PII-300 128MB 1.8GBHDD and the CPU has never made it up to 20% (average 11%) in the entire 4-month life of this install.  

The documentation says 4.08 and up will run on a Pentium, amd k6 or VIA c3 see ANNOUNCEMET: Astaro Security Linux 4.008 (new V4 ISO) 

4.0 to 4.07 was PII. 

Actually I am impressed that they offer support after a few complaints when 4.0 required a minimum PII.

I'm running ASL 4.009 on a PPro-200 with 128 meg of ram, a 2.2 gig HD 3 nic's (All 3 Com's) This system is devided into a public, private, DMZ configuration.

This system and config is Running perfectly. NO bogs in the system no hangups.
