2.0 install

Just a wild guess... did you clear the ARP cache on your computer? If not, your computer will remember the ip-address of the old firewall ALONG with it's MAC address...
It's a long shot though, as I think the ARP cache doesn't live very long.

Did you try logging on to the console executing either of the following:
"netstat -nr"  - shows routes
"ifconfig" - config of interfaces

and of course, pinging your workstation and your default gateway (if any) from the firewall.

    Hello all, 
    Yesturday I set up a machine identical to our 1.793 Astaro firewall, I installed 2.0 FINAL on it and imported a fresh backup (from the 1.793 box). The backup imported succesfully and everything seemed fine; however when I droppped this machine in the old ones place and booted it up, nothing happened. It would not pass any routes, and I was unable to connect to it via webadmin or any other interface.
    Do I need to type in the config by hand for this kind of upgrade?
    Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Do you think that the Astaro Backups hold MAC addresses? I restored the backup on a different machine. ifconfig shows the ip all properly assigned, and all my routes appear to be there... It was a backup restored off of a perfectly working system; I must be missing something.

    Hi Ryan,

    i afraid the backup from 1.793 (oops!, such old version is still running...) was the problem.
    Check this on a root console with  ifconfig; route -n; iptables -nv -L - you should recognize your old config. If not, please setup it by hand - sorry but nobody promised a working backup from 1.7X to 2.0.

    Just out of interest, is it going to be possible to Up2Date from either 1.8 or 1.9 installations to version 2.0?  Or is it a case of reformat / reinstall / restore backup?

    Up2Date would make life much easier / simpler [:)]

    I'm having the same problem of not being able to consistently use the WebAdmin. I have reinstalled it 4 or 5 times. How can I manually setup it by hand, as above said??
