Just a wild guess... did you clear the ARP cache on your computer? If not, your computer will remember the ip-address of the old firewall ALONG with it's MAC address...
It's a long shot though, as I think the ARP cache doesn't live very long.
Did you try logging on to the console executing either of the following:
"netstat -nr" - shows routes
"ifconfig" - config of interfaces
and of course, pinging your workstation and your default gateway (if any) from the firewall.
