Strange v8 anomolies

Rogue, it's hard to tell what you're asking, so I'll make some WAGs...

Unless you activate Uplink Balancing, you only can have a single interface with a default gateway.  You will have problems if you have two physical interfaces connected to a single, physical Ethernet network.  If you add NICs after installing the hardware, they only will work if they can use the same driver used by the NICs present at installtion (Astaro is not plug-n-play).  NICs that do work because they use the same driver may cause the interfaces to be re-numbered.

If you are referencing access to WebAdmin, the is controlled by the settings at Management>>WebAdmin Settings.

i cannot get my second (quad interface) nic to access the internet

To add to Bob's mention of adding NICs after install, not every NIC ever created is supported.  Is your quad card on the HCL (http://astarosupport.org/hcl/)?

after i activated up-bal (i was not sure so i put all the internal interfaces in active) it gave me a error, did i do something wrong? also after i did that it knocked off my external interface as being the "default gateway" 

Scott, i was referring to my astaro box going "rogue" and renaming its management interface i have no idea why it did that.

sorry for any mixed messages in my introduction thread i was very frustrated and sleepy.

UpLink Balancing is only for WAN interfaces, not the ones for LAN.  It is not a means of teaming interfaces.  If you want to team the ports on your quad-nic, then you would want to look at Link Aggregation.  In order to utilize this, you would need a managed switch that supports LAG.

Astaro doesn't have a dedicated management interface.  You can use one for that purpose, but it's really no different than another LAN.  I'm still a bit confused when you say that it was renamed.  If you go to Interfaces & Routing>>Interfaces, do you mean that the label (name) you gave it changed or that the NICs were reordered (NIC ports re-assigned to different interfaces)?



When posting to the forum, understand that nobody here can SEE what your talking about, so be as painfully descriptive as possible.  This is especially true when it comes to the term interface, which can mean both the NIC port and the network assignment given to it.  Screenshots are quite helpful as well.  [:)]

turns out that i forgot to configure the proper NAT rules and got confused between the traffic source and destination, i guess those are some of the common mistakes. This Aug i will be starting college for computer networking [:D] so hopefully i learn more.

Regards to the Management interface, in the installation it asks for a management interface and that is what i assumed to be the "dedicated management interface" i did not change it, it changed on its own but im good now. 

i got my webserver running now roguehosting.roguevault.com however its painfully slow.... any ideas?

What is painfully slow?  Accessing it from the outside world, or???  Whenever anything unexpected occurs, check the Intrusion Prevention log.
