Are you having any trouble with it? I just so happen to work at SysAid...
The Linux agent is basically a shell script that runs lshw and sends the XML output to the SysAid server, which generates it into an asset. You should probably cron that script so that the asset would get updated regularly with changes.

I had not yet tried to run the agent.  I would need to know how to get to a shell and if any of my logins will work on the shell.  I should be able to find some sort of guides on how to set up the cron job and what not.

We also we use SysAid at our organization. Wouldn't loading the agent and editing cron void our support contract?

That is defiantly a question I would like to know the answer. Esp on a physical box, eg the ASG220.

That won't void the warranty. This is a standard procedure and is even included in SysAid's documentation: SysAid with Linux

Jack is asking about the warranty on Astaro.

Jack,
Yes, modifying Astaro on the command line can void your support contract.
If you really need this, save a backup from Astaro, and then you can always do a new installation if needed.

There is some info about adding jobs to Astaro's cron if you search these forums.

Also note that Astaro can be monitored with SNMP, so you may not need to install the agent.

It's not that it will void your support agreement forever, but if you make unsupported system changes from the backend and need to contact support about an issue, reload from ISO beforehand.  That's the first thing support is going to require you to do, before anything else.
