Fiber Connection Upload Speeds Problem

Hi everyone, 
We have a 10Mbps up and down dedicated fiber. I noticed on the computers I get full 9Mbps for download speed but only 3.6Mbps max upload. So talked to provider and then I tested with my laptop to their switch(media convertor). When my laptop was set to auto negotiation I got bad results. Once I put my NIC on laptop to 10 full duplex got 9 and 9 for up and down. 

So then I connected my Astaro directly to media converter from fiber provider and set astaro nic to 10 full duplex instead of auto. Same bad results down was fine but upload was only 3 something. 

The weird thing is on Daily reports from astaro I saw the upload speed max to 6 or 7Mbps. So the question is why when I connected astaro 10 full duplex my lan computers still can`t get higher uploads.

    Hi, are you using the http proxy/content filter? If so, try testing with it off... it's caching and scanning can affect bandwidth tests.

    yes I am using with http proxy on but would `t affect download speeds as well why only upload ?

    i have an astaro 320 with those nics. The weird thing is I done a vpn site to site transfer test and I saw upload reaching 9Mbps so that works but somehow the computers don't get that . 

    Is it because of the proxy ?

    You will see some speed loss due to data going through any proxy, depending on what processing happens to the data.  You'll lose some due to say the web proxy itself, more if single AV scan is enabled, even more for double AV.  I'd try checking in each of these three scenarios to see the differences.

    hi scott,

    So we upgraded our pipe to 80 Mbps fibre and guess what ? The Download on speedtest.net gets to 80Mbps with Web Filtering disabled but upload speeds still never pass 3-5Mbps. 
    With Web Filter on Down speeds drop to 25-30Mbps and upload stay the same 3-5Mbps. 

    Is there anything we can do to bump those upload speeds to it`s max. ? If I connect my laptop direct to the Media Convertor of the fibre pipe indeed i get 80 down 60 up... 

    Would really appreciate if we could fix these issues.

    QoS on WAN and LAN interface. Once I disabled both I get my uploads speeds of course with Web Filter off.

    It looks like both QoS on WAN and Web Filter affects the results big time

    youa re going to take a speed hit with web filter depending on how many users and the cpu of the machine.

    This is an interesting situation - I don't understand why you're having this problem.  How are you measuring your upload speed?  Please show the bandwidth pool definitions for WAN and LAN interfaces. Do you confirm that you don't have limitations set on the bandwidth for either interface?  Do you have 'Upload optimizer' checked for the WAN interface?

    I had same issue.  I think Auto QoS is b0rked.
    Disabled it on mine and got full line speed.
