WebAdmin failed to start

hi guys,

my ASG220 reports "Services failed in runlevel 3: httpd", so my Webadmin and also ping to the ASG won't work anymore - the LAN interface is up, which i confirmed by using ifconfig on cc.

the problem appeared as i switched off all other interface (eth1, eth2, eth4 are configured) and also switched off eth0 in mistake but switched back on faster as the appliance took the change to off [:D]

hope someone has a good idea.

    Hi Honk,

    You seem to have command line access, so:

    Try just restarting HTTPD to see if it comes up, perhaps the switching off the interfaces so quickly confused the scripts which were taking effect.
    From anywhere on the CLI (as root) do..

    /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S60httpd restart

    see if that kicks webadmin back to life.

    thanks, but didn't work.

    also looked at yesterdays httpd.log but there isn't something interesting, just no more entries after webadmin died.

    rebooting the appliance didn't work either.

    i'm not sure this is a feature: when i'm trying to ping a host in my LAN from cc, i'll get "operation not permitted" - by pinging the LAN ip address of the appliance i'll get response.

    any other ideas? perhaps the httpd has bound to wrong ip address - also changed the yesterday - someone knows where to find the binding of the httpd service?

    in the meanwhile i noted that the eth0 lan interface disconnects itself (lost link) - and then reactivates - also using dmesg tells me that "link became ready on eth0" a regular bases - seems to be more tricky than just a malfunction webadmin

    since this a demo box where i tried to configure some settings i think i will re-setup the appliance - does anyone know how to save the config so i don't have to redo all over again?

    In the left menu:
    Management ---> Backup/restore
    Then save it or send it by mail
    [:)]

    Interesting, did the operation itself work (webadmin started?) if so, it could be a problem with the allowed networks for webadmin itself. 

    let me know if webadmin starts ok service-wise, we can try one more thing before you re-install.

    thanks for reply - the webadmin itself didn't start - by entering "...S60httpd restart" i got "Webadmin stop.... done" ... "Webadmin start... done" - but the Webadmin wasn't online - when entering "...S60httpd start" i got "Webadmin start ... failed" -
    so it seems that altough the restart command itself failed the cc displayed that all went well - 

    i already reset the asg220 to factory default through panel and re-setup the device - now it seems to work fine.
