Astaro license

hi

we have two ASG220, V6 1 ASG220 for daily use and 1 for backup(offline), as we only use 1 machine at the same time so we just purchase the gold support for 1 set ASG220, another one just have factory warrnty (Gold Support) for the first year. (Year 2007) 

now have a problem, when will try to testing the backup astaro, we switch two astaro ASG220, once the backup machine startup it show me the license expired...can't use any function. We just need to use the normal function, eg. NAT, PACKET FILTER, and don't need the anti virus enginee....on the backup astaro, but still can't use, how can I got the backup ASG 220 license key which come form the when we purchase from the reseller

    Hi, herman98,

    This is not an easy question since you still are on V6.  That version is no longer supported, and you should upgrade to V7.504.  Once you do that, you can change to the new licensing model.  Under the new licensing model, you can put the second ASG220 into "Hot-Standby" mode with the first one, and you have no additional support costs.

    Depending on the Revision level of your SG220s, you should upgrade to newer units if they can't be upgraded to 1GB of RAM.  These are questions for your reseller and for Astaro - this is not an official way to communicate with Astaro - it's just a User BB.

    the problem is we can't update through the ASG220 as the license already expired, also we have not the orginal license file as it is config by the reseller. 

    also my Astaro ONLY HAVE 512MB, we don't know it can upgrade to V7 or not.

    now we still have one astaro with license key (not expired), can we import the license key to our second set astaro 220? or can we use GHOST to clone the image from astaro 220 to the standby astaro 220?

    GHOST won't work.  License should work.  You have the equivalent of a car that's gone 50,000 miles without an oil change.  The only thing the license does for you now is allow you to access WebAdmin.  You receive no pattern updates or Up2Dates for V6.  The president of your company needs to spend some money to stay protected from new threats.

    Hi Herman98,

    in addition to what has been said before: You can upgrade from your 512MB configuration to a 1GB configuration; depending on your Hardware revision (v1 or v2) either through a memory or unit upgrade. It depends on which vesion of ASG you have at the moment; this can be found out by Astaro if you provide them the serial number of your 220s.

    Those packs can also be bought through your reseller and they enable you to run the latest Astaro version (v7). 

    In case you have a technical question, you can use the mail addresses that Ölm has listed above; however if you want to discuss the commercial side, they will probably redirect you to a sales contact, so don't get confused if there is more than one name involved in the mail communication [;)]
