If the filesystem got hosed from the power outage, you may need to re-install from CD, and restore your backup.

You'll need to contact your reseller to get a re-install CD for the appliance, and I believe you'll need a USB CDROM.

I AM my reseller [[:)]] I have access to the recovery ISO's. That isn't the problem. The problem is that I am in Waterloo, Ontario, and this ASG120 is in Calgary, Alberta [[:)]]

Platinum support cross-shipped replacement hardware, Gold does not.  For software only licenses, you basically get 24/7 support as opposed to just standard business hours.

I was responding to the fact that the OP felt let down that his support ticket wasn't responded to until almost 3 hours he put it in.

I would like to quote from the Astaro.com website the following, which does NOT state anything about 4 hours. I would also like to state that my understanding was 4 hour response for AFTER HOURS. Not 3PM EST, which is 12PM PST. Would also like to add, I CALLED my case in to the toll-free number.

Hate to tell you, but Cisco offers 4 hours onsite replacement of hardware for all the gear I have, which is now over 300 Cisco devices and counting.

Doesn't anyone read SLA's anymore?  Sure, there are times when responses are needed sooner than later (like the RMA situation), but there are available.

that should give a pretty good idea as to what you should expect in the way of a callback, don't you think?  Now, like I said, RMA's are a critical issue, and the response should have been quicker.  next time, put in a case - if they see the email, they're generally faster at responding than to a voicemail.

I generally go by the pdf.  Astaro has which sets out in their service level agreement for response times, and shipping. 
and Plat/gold say within 4 hours response time.
I tend to expect that that is a reasonable time frame, given I'm sure they are busy. *shrug* 


although I am liking the cisco shipping times, I wonder if I can convince them to ship my xmas pressies for me this year [:)]

I did put in a web ticket as well as call.  I did this while it was only around 12PM PST. My firewall had been down all weekend but I could not get anyone hands on until the Monday morning, around 9AM EST.

I have several years of experience with Astaro, have recommended it to several clients, and run several firewalls in my company as shown in my signature on here.

I have never run into a situation like this before, and after I had already spent three hours of my time PRIOR to calling trying everything under the sun, trying replacing config databases with backups, using ifconfig to bring up the interface so I could reach it, even having an IP KVM connected so I could console to it.

I would like to point out that I do not fall under EMEA for my geographic location.

Even if I did, look at this SLA list for the Platinum:

I would like to add though, that in the end, Astaro ended up sending a replacement device, which I recieved 4 days after opening the case. 

Overall am I satisfied? YES
Could some things improve? YES

My company is in the customer support business, and I know how proper support should be done. Hell, I built up our company's Helpdesk and Network Operations teams so I know a thing or two about SLAs.

that you do, and well said I must say.  I believe they are going through some changes, somehow perhaps your ticket/voicemail was missed for those three hours.  I agree though that things  could definitely improve.  Lets keep our fingers crossed!
