v7 in Production environment?

Please explain why you feel v7 is not ready for prodution.  This will help Astaro understand what is still required to be fixed..

It is all in these forums.

[v7.000] POP3 Proxy flakey - POP3 and HTTP proxies are both unstable.  Prefetch, mail notifications, authentication are just some of the problems.
7.001 Argh! - the sort of issue which pushes non-technical users away to more "commercial" products.
Update from beta to final release? - a GA that can't be upgraded to seemlessly is not a GA, it's still a Beta test.  Commercial users expect the ability to upgrade without rebuilds.
6.933 Issues list - DNS issues raised here still exist.
This Bug never got fixed!!! - but I think it was raised back at v6.913, or earlier?
6.993 Issues - the last beta release was less stable than the one before, but the GA came out very soon after without many of the issues resolved.
Is v7 Ready for Go? - some good issues raised here, as summaries to other threads.  Very few (if any?) got fixed for the GA.
Hardware, Installation, Up2Date - heaps of posts regarding hardware support, install issues etc.  Looks like a lot of systems that ran v6.3 fine will not be able to run v7, but not from a spec point-of-view, but rather just lacking basic support for the hardware?

I'm the only distributor in NZ (that I know of) and I push hard against people resisting a "less commercially acceptable" brand of firewall.  I stand behind this product 100% but to release a GA in this state doesn't help!  Especially when the user community has been very clear about the issues, has raised them very quickly and, from what I see on these forums, have been 200% willing to invest in test platforms, time, and effort to assist in testing and providing technical feedback, log extracts, access to systems so that issues can be tracked down.

Sorry to be negative, I support this product and want to get it right.  However, I stand by my concern that v7 is not ready for Joe-Average public to purchase and install, and as such is not ready for "GA".

Argh, I have not noticed that. Without paying more money for web security, basic web proxy functionality will not be included?

Major PITA, I use basic web proxy functionality on all systems to save bandwidth. Now I will have to install squid on a spare machine instead.

Sorry, don't believe in that idea. The world we want to exist in says that beta testing should resolve all these issues, but the one in which we live, no products get their bugs completely resolved in beta testing anymore. 

Can you simulate the load of 10,000 machines? Simulate, yes. What's that worth? Depends on who you ask. 
That's my point. You can point at beta testing all you want, but it's still not real world for anyone.

There wasn't a single beta release that didn't have a significant functional issue.

Many of these functional issues are complete regressions to the previous stable release (which isn't all that surprising given how much v7 has changed from v6).

Sure, testing probably wasn't as widespread on the betas if they had been labeled a production release, but if it was my software, I would not be releasing a production version until I had a beta release without any significant functional problems.

Gotta agree with that.  These are not minor bugs that we refer to.

I agree with you on the significance - I worked quite a bit with V7 over the weekend, after I was able to install it on a couple of appliances. We're not going ahead with production on it until some of the functional issues are corrected. That's not good, as we have some sites that really need the V7 enhancements, particularly clustering.

I give up, i'm retrograding to v6.3

Done, all stable and fantastic.  I can browse again!

Given current stability issues being reported I will not be using v7 in production till after next couple of up2dates.

Each forum in here is reporting multiple serious errors and enforces my view that v7 should not have been released before more beta testing was done.

I think they rushed it because Sales wanted to bring it out before their world launch events..
