How many computers do you have on your home network ?

What do you mean, not older than 3 years!!!

I have a 486/25 running Debian Linux that is my SSH tunnel server.  It does a nice job, thank you.  It could also run my DNS if I were so inclined.

I do plan on decommisioning this box if I can ever get my firewall to handle SSH tunnel endpoints.

ok, lets make it "not older that 10 years and regularly used".

I just didn't want people to count in their various non-used vintage PC parts.

Imagine I first tried to have my serverrack in the bedroom since I thought having it in the livingroom would make me look weird  [:O]

8 computers normally used.
and then theres allways some friend with a laptop. And a weekend now and then we have a LAN with about 10 people. This means I cannot make use of the home license of 10 IP´s max.
Specially not when taking into regard the planned garage computer and the IP phones that are gonna be connected by the end of this week, if everything goes as planned [:P]
Too bad I have no chance of paying the price for this software, it seems very very nice!

Current normal use:
3 servers
2 workstations
1 workstation and "house controller"
1 computer for expirments and testing stuff on
1 media computer

Planned and such.
1 laptop
1 garage computer
>= 1 IP phone
5-20 LAN computers

Why limit the home edition to any IP´s at all? No home user can afford the prices of the software. Of course, its your software, you decide, I just think its a shame, I cant make use of you nice software.

And occasionally, 1 x Laptop

Here is my current list of IP connected devices...  Just my wife, and two 6 month old twins here, but I have a bit of a network of stuff...

I won't bother to include any of the networking equipment, the list is long enough... [:)]

By maintaining 3 servers and 5 workstations and planning to buy (or whatever) another up to 20 PCs for home use (and pay electricity), you won't have any money left [8-)] 

And if you are using MS$, i'm sure, you told those guys also, that it's a shame to pay for 20 MS Windows and Office licenses ......for home use [:)]

Of course I havent bought any of MS products.. However a few of their products were included in the purchase of 2 of the workstations.
I dont plan to buy 20 PCs... Its LAN, other peoples computers when they are here on LAN partys.
And oh, forgot about the printer, so its normally 9 IPs connected. And really, who pays for Windows? I dont know ANYONE who have paid for windows seperatly. NONE! My workstation came with a pirate version of Windows, from shop.. I have allready payed for windows 2 times through OEM computers, would never pay for it seperatly, I would switch to linux instead if there were no other ways. But dont get me wrong, I would glady buy XP if the pricetag was €20 or something like that. The same applies to astaro.
About value on the different machines:
Printer: €30
Workstation1: €1500
Workstation2: €200
Workstation3: €90
Media: €600
Server1: €nothing at all, a 200mhz
Server2: €hotdog, a 1 ghz celeron
Server3: €50
IP phone: €50
That is sorta €2500 and if I remember correct, astaro is €250/year ?
I would not be able to pay that.
The planned garage computer would be a free one, a 300mhz or something like that, garbage. Im not made of money.
And electricity of course IS a problem, its getting more and more expensive and making it even harder to afford expensive software and hardware.
But as I said, of course, astaro may charge whatever they want, and perhaps the price is the correct one in order to pay for the time spent on the project! But I still think its a shame that home users and non-profit users cannot afford to use this great piece of software!
