V8 and Wifi Support

u have to use V7.506 for testing, V8 would take till august/september for Wlan implemented ...

i had to "downgrade" too... seems like it was to much work to implement wlan into 8.0

The reason for this is more or less a timing issue [;)]
In the start , we decided not to wait for the V8 release because we were fearing delays in the release and the constant shifting of a product in heavy development. Instead we decided to base it on the "stable" V7, to be able to release Wireless Security as soon as it is ready.
Now it turns out that V8 is just on time, as well as Wireless Security, and we need some additional time to port it to V7. To quote Tom on this:

We'll add it in August, but the whole release processing including QA will last until October.

I think that wlan support will come on version 8.100 around september (i think Tom said that but not 100% sure!)

That would be a really fast release of 8.100 [;)]

But I hope to see a beta until September, though - it's not nice having this brand new AP lying around here with no use... [:D]

@Monarch: Why not use a 2nd dedicated ASG virtul instance e.g. and keep your 8.001 as the main fw? I run the same setup at home without any problems.

And by the way I am not sure about versioning, but I think that the WLAN release will be more of a 8.050 than an 8.1...

I already thought about reactivating my old 7.502 (or something) installation, that ran here before the V8 closed beta... but a fresh 7.506 should probably be preferred.

Perhaps I will look into this at the weekend. Configuration shouldn't be a big issue, simply use the main ASG as gateway and that's it...

@ReD-MaN: This is because I want to separate my work and my private area a bit. UBB is private for me.

Mhh, this gets more complicated than I thought in the first moment... will have to use VLANs for the second ASG (only having 2 NICs in my server...) [:(]
