The reason for this is more or less a timing issue [;)]
In the start , we decided not to wait for the V8 release because we were fearing delays in the release and the constant shifting of a product in heavy development. Instead we decided to base it on the "stable" V7, to be able to release Wireless Security as soon as it is ready.
Now it turns out that V8 is just on time, as well as Wireless Security, and we need some additional time to port it to V7. To quote Tom on this:
We'll add it in August, but the whole release processing including QA will last until October.
