Error during install of 2.0 beta

Hi, I want to install 2.0 Beta on my system using a SCSI-harddisk and CD-rom connected to a Adaptec 2940 controller. The CD-boots fine, but during the install it halts and displays the following error after the keyboard layout nenu:

Attempt to access beyond end of device

0b:01 rw=0 want 144564 limit 144562

Any suggestions what's happening here ?

hello franc

try the following:

in the BIOS of the AHA2940 controller,
&A when aha2940 bios shows a message on the screen during boot, I think it's under advanced, but i'm not shure, change the value for "Support for DOS drives > 1GB"
from no to yes or from yes to no, it depends what value is now.

Hi Eldorado,

I thought about that too and did that (it was set to 'yes' so I changed it to 'no'), but it didn't work. The error still occurs.

Was there ever a solution to this one? I am getting the same thing. However I can go to IDE instead of SCSI but would rather have that option open to me.

Drastic (maybe).

Well just an update on my issue then. I removed the SCSI controler from the box and I am still getting the same error.

Attempt to access beyond end of device

16:00 0b:01 rw=0 want 144564 limit 144562

Hi,

perhaps it's a little bit drastic yes, but the SCSI drive I have is the only one I can use. I don't have a spare IDE drive with the minimum requeirements, so I'm stuck without if it's not working with my SCSI-drive.

hi everybody,
I'm not shure, but, try and see the tranfer rate of your cd-rom,maybe this is problem.
01:0b should be the sector of the rom-disk
rw=0 read and write=0 it can't read the rom-disk
and the rest should be request tranfer-rate.
You can update the firmware of the cd-rom and
re-burn the disk not with high speed( try at
1X).
