is it KBps or kbps strange !

This is strange and i need confirmation here

in Sophos Traffic Shaping (QoS) Settings the Total Available WAN Bandwidth  is set to be in KBps  which i guess it is wrong and it should be in kbps

in cyberoam it is in kbps . my dsl modem WAN is 20239 Kbps

so what value i have to put ?

  • And so to add to this confusion. If the consensus here is that the values to be used in the Traffic Shaping panels, both System Services...Traffic shaping settings and System Services...Traffic shaping (policies) are to be KiloBytes. The default Sophos supplied VOIP Guarantee policy has a Guarantee of 50 KiloBytes (per individual), which equates to 400 kilobits (kbps), and a VOIP phone session is said to typically require 85 to 100 kbps (kilobits).  Can I infer that the guarantee (and limit) is being overstated by a factor of 8?

P.S. I made my own VOIP Guarantee rule and put in the values of 85 (Guarantee) & 125 (Limit)  Bandwidth usage type: Individual.
Am I guaranteeing and limiting 8 times more than I should?

    Very very confused.
