SG appliance to XG - How to obtain license?

I have an SG hardware appliance that is licensed and deployed. If I do not care about migration and am willing to dump the existing config - what is the process to obtain the XG license for the device? All information I have seen indicates you need to wait for the migration path if you wish to migrate, but gives no information for those people who wish to be early adopters and reconfigure.

  • Hi Erik,

The upgrade only works with paid-for licenses so if you have a Home license for 9.X your only option is to request a new home license for XG here:

  • Hi Paul,

I have a SG125 device with UTM license. Now I want to migrate it to Sophos XG, but I can't see License Upgrade from System > Administration > Licensing

Can you give me an advice? Should I reinstall XG again?

    Cheers,

    Khoi.

  • Hi Khoi,

If you have a paid-for SG UTM license then you should be able to use it directly. I don't know the history of your device, but if you have already managed to register it using the full license migration option without giving it a license file you will not be able to see the migration option anymore and your only option would be to re-install. However, if you have a paid-for license, I'd recommend calling Tech Support first as they will be able to see the licensing status of your device and thus be able to advise the best next step.
