Activate Base License on SG Hardware

Hi,

the issue will be how long it has been off line? The device needs to regularly see the licensing server at least once every 90 days.

So, please connect it to the network and sync the licence from within the XG.

thanks for your fast reply, but this is not the problem i think.
Its online 24/7 and if i press the Syncronize button, it shows "Synchronization with server was successful."

First of all, depending on the image you used: If you used your HW Image, you can convert your myUTM License to SFOS. Even if the UTM license is expired, this is needed to do so. Simply to migrate the existing Base license. 

But in SFOS a HW Installation does not expire, even in Trial. So you likely used a Software Installation. In Software Installation you likely need to reinstall the appliance due the fact that you need a software serial with XG Home. 

I think i used the Hardware Image, but i cannot verify that.
I thought the base license is activated based on detecting SG hardware.
Do i definitly need to convert a UTM license?

Yes, you have to. Looking at the Control Center, if you see a virtual appliance or a SG Appliance should give you the insights.

Also check the serial number. Does it match with your SG serial or do you have a own serial? 

Ok, i see SG125 in Control Center, the Serial matches.
Then i will search the right UTM account later and try to migrate the license.

I find some of the suggested answers in this thread a little strange. In the past trying to install  sfos on sophos  hardware failed, why all of a sudden does it install without errors in this case?

It is quite easy: You can wipe the Disk of the SG and install a software appliance (SFOS) to it. It will be a software appliance and can use a own serial number. 

You can use the Hardware ISO and stay in the "Business segment" with the fully supported OS for the hardware.
