Log for Sophos AP issues?

Just had our [EDIT per rfcat_vk, who pointed out original "APX 30" is not a proper model] APX 320 crash. Solid red light. Power cycled it (unplugged cable, it's on PoE) and it went to an odd green blinking cadence (I think faster than normal), then red again, then seemed to reboot and is back in service now.

Are there any logs that can be checked to see what happened? Or are AP crashes just one of those things you can't really tell what happened?

  • I didn't try resetting from the XGS87 (I don't generally have a wired connection to it, so my main laptop was offline because the AP was down).

I did reset by pulling the AP's ethernet from the PoE injector, waiting, then plugging back in, to literally power cycle it. It then rebooted with the slightly faster green flash, then went red, then appeared to reboot again and successfully came back up and is still working the next day.

Haven't had the XGS or the AP crash in the months we've had it, so it was a bit of a surprise when the AP went red-light. There have been no AP firmware updates since July.

    Hi ,

Ensure that the latest AP Firmware pattern version is installed on Sophos Firewall(SYSTEM > Backup & firmware > Pattern updates).

  • Thanks! It is on 11.0.016, which updated July 30th, and which seems to be the latest.

Something weird had happened overall. From that glitch time, the XGS wasn't uploading logging info to Sophos Central. So I rebooted the entire XGS87 a day or two ago and Sophos Central is again seeing logs. So it might've been a more severe issue than just the AP.
