SFOS 18.0.0 GA-Build339 Port2 (WAN) Showing as unplugged

Hi,

I just did an upgrade from SFOS 17.5.10 MR-10 to SFOS 18.0.0 GA-Build339.

All went smoothly, rebooted, I'm  a happy camper but then I notice that there's no internet connectivity.

I look under Network Interfaces and see that my PPPoE is showing as unplugged.

I check all cables and all is fine so I do the old turn it off and back on again IT Crowd trick. I noticed on my hardware upon boot, the link light is on but once booted it goes out.

So I rolled back to SFOS 17.5.10 MR-10 and everything is perfect again

Has anybody seen this with SFOS 18.0.0 GA-Build339 and knows what the fix is?

Thanks

  • Hi,

is this installation on Sophos hardware or home hardware? How many ports do you have and what model are the chips on the NICs if this is home hardware?

Intel i219 series are not supported.

  • Its home hardware (Shuttle DH310)

2X GbE port (Intel i211) NIC's on the board.  I must stress that the LAN side of the XG worked perfect. It was the WAN port that gave me issues

  • Thank you for the pretty pictures. Why does your v17 network show a 100 and a 1000 connection on the same interface? The WAN interface does not appear to auto negotiate and maybe the driver in v18 is a little more strict with connectivity. Have you restarted your modem. eg powered it off for about minute them on again? Ian

    Unsure. It always has.

It is directly connected to my FTTP NBN (Australia) Connection.

I did restart the NTD. I will try and force it to 100mb or 1000mb and see if it behaves.

    Thanks

  • Hi

lucky you, all I got was fttc. Try turning on auto-negotiate.

There are some bonuses to where I live I guess!

Okay, thanks, I will give it another shot when the Wife and kids don't go nuclear because Netflix has stopped for 15 minutes :)

I have accepted your reply as an answer as it lead me to look at the connection. The long and the short of it is that I don't know why it was showing 100 an 1000 on the same interface, but hard-coding it to 100mb Full had me able to connect to the NBN again.

So unless Scotty from marketing increases NBN from 100mb to something faster, I should be okay.

Thanks for the help, now time to tame this V18 beast!
