  • Hello yusuf,

if the GUI doesn't appear at all then it might not get as far as writing a log (which would be in your user's %TEMP% directory - I vaguely remember that I've seen it failing to load a SetupXxx.dll but can't say where this was logged). Thus you'd have to find out why it fails early or whether it starts at all. Process Monitor is one option. Another is copying the SAVSCFXP folder to a local one, opening an administrative cmd window, cd to this folder and running setup.exe from the command line.

  • Dear Friend,

I tried all the way to re-install the sophos on Win 7 PC.It seems does not display any windows for setup.

First way,  i try to install from network location \\172.16.xx.xx\Sophosupdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP\setup.exe

Second way, i copied the folder(SophosUpdate) and paste it to local desktop and try to install using command prompt C:\Users\sophos.STUDENT.000\Desktop\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP>setup.exe

As a result i failed to install Sophos. Here i have attached snaps during the sophos installation.

i am looking for valuable suggestion to this problem....

  • Hello yusuf.

two things look strange (although I don't have a solution or even a suggestion):

    1. The task manager shows spa.exe (SophosPatch Agent) running. How did it get on the machine?
    2. The cmd prompt suggests that you are not running from a regular profile (sophos.STUDENT.000 - is STUDENT the computer or the domain, BTW?). Looks like there is some issue with your login session.

Does the machine otherwise work correctly?
